Gotcha!!

First things first! Here she is!!
As I type this Penelope Mei is lying here beside me. She's not quite asleep, not quite awake.
It's still unreal! It's 2:30 pm here in China. Today has gone as well as I could have imagined. Words first then pictures...
We left the hotel at 9:30 to head to the Civil Affairs office where we would get Penelope.
It was so amazing watching the other families receive their children! Luoyang was last to arrive at 11:00 am.
Penelope came right to me without a fuss. No tears, not quite any smiles yet either. She had a piece of candy in her hand when she got there, she still has it in her hand now!
She is so, so tiny. As in the size 2 diapers are huge tiny. When they handed her to me she felt like a feather!
In some ways it's like she is a young baby. Her muscle tone is terrible, but she basically has no muscles. We've seen pictures of her standing but I can't imagine how those little legs can hold her up! Right now she's like holding a rag doll but I know that will get better.
She's also had a hair cut. She looks like a baby monk ;). We were thrilled when she started sucking her thumb, just like her big brother Quincy!!
When we got back to the room, we just snuggled a few minutes and face timed w Mam & Bamp and Nanny & Papa. It goes without saying that they are impressed! I had a hard time figuring out how to use the hot pot to warm the bottle, but once I did-look out!! She took it right out of my hands and chugged it! The she ate a whole bowl of puffs. I changed her clothes and put a bow in her hair - fun! Then we orderd her some congee -think thick soupy rice- and she ate that too. We're going to try to get as many calories in here as we possibly can everywhere we can!!

Now she's lying here beside me with her candy in her hand. Jason is downstairs doing paperwork with our guide, then I will go. otherwise we just work on bonding today. Gabe is pretty crazy about her already!!
Pray for Penelope that she gets stronger and bonds well with us!
Again, thank you so much for all the prayers and kind words. I'm reading every one of your comments. They mean so much! This little girl has no idea how many people have been praying for her!!
Now what you really want, pictures!!

I can't stop looking at these pictures! I hope you post more again soon! Annalea likes them too. She smiled really big and laughed with excitement when I told her her new friend Penelope is coming home from China. Then when we looked through the pictures again, she smiled and said, "that China". I tried to convince her that it is Penelope and not China, but she says, "no, China". So, I think she might have developed a nickname already lol. You all look thrilled and Penelope is such a doll. Her monk cut looks super cute in the headband! She is probably thinking, "who are these people waiting on me? Am I a princess now?" I can already see a change in her color and she seems more relaxed. No doubt she will have gained several pounds by the time you bring her back! This is just beautiful. xo

Papa is fixing pancakes now and I need to go fry bacon. She will grow with good food and tender loving care. She is our little miracle. She looks like she came right out of a Chinese story book...so precious & delicate. Sounds like her appetite will make the strength & growth happen quickly. We are so happy for you guys and more than anything, we are happy that Penelope has found her way to such a wonderful & loving family. I have faith that very soon she will be the newest little Eagle fan & not even remember a time when she wasn't a Fulton. Just love her the way you have been for months and the rest will just come. We all love you & can't wait until you are safely back in JC!

I just keep looking at her precious little face and know how loved she is and I just keep crying. Happy, happy happy tears. We are all so blessed to have tagged along on this journey of love. I just keep thinking about that lady yesterday as they told me about the child she knew that had been adopted from China and had been there with them for 9 months and how they had adjusted totally. I can't wait until we look back of pictures of her skinny little body and see how much she had grown. She will THRIVE and grow so big on your love and attention and of course good food. God is so GOOD. We love you Penelope. Now go eat some yummy food.

My words are not enough to express my feelings at this time. A favorite bible verse of mine has the words:
Luke 2:19
But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Now readers, please don't think I am comparing my self to the mother of Jesus, I just really do as a mother, understand the wording. As a mother for 40 years, I have been blessed to do a lot of treasuring and pondering. As a grandmother for 17 years, my treasuring and pondering has been doubled.
Penelope is one more beautiful, delicate, little branch on our family tree. Facetiming with you last night after you had her in your room and your arms, was the evidence of things we had hoped for. Your joy was so beautiful and I didn't even see the Diel blotch Michelle. I did notice you were wearing a scarf though!!
She is so beautiful and I can't wait till your journey is complete and she is here with the rest of the family!! Her Mam and Bamp love her so much!
