From China to Chicago

We have now been back home for just over 24 hours. I know its cliche, but there truly is no place like home!
Penelope helped us pack.

On Thursday our agency had scheduled a van for us to take for Guangzhou to Hong Kong.
They drive on the other side of the road in Hong Kong. It was so funny to see Jason on the drivers side but not in the drivers seat.

Penelope was good in the van but once again-blow out. No pants for the rest of the ride. We need to send the drive a gift certificate to Todd's clean up shop. I don't think baby poop is the worst thing he's cleaned out of our vehicles over the years....

Hong Kong was beautiful, we would have loved to have seen more of it.

It was getting late by the time we got it so we ordered room service. We made sure to tell Penelope not to get used to luxuries such as tiny bottles of hot sauce ;).

The plane ride home was long. 14 plus hours long. Penelope was so good, but we think we changed her diaper 18 times. Not a joke.
She didn't sleep much, she played and snacked. We saw some new tricks including clapping her hands!  Towards the end she wanted to fall asleep but she just couldn't do it. At one point when she was crying she said mama and I do think she meant me :). We walked the aisles over and over singing Amazing Grace and praying for time to pass quickly.

After we got off the plane we had some extra processing to do for the newest US citizen. It took longer than we thought and was thoroughly anticlimactic.
Finally, her precious little feet touch US soil and she is now and forever, officially official.

Nanny and PaPa were waiting to bring us home.

First time in a car seat. She was not a fan....

But it didn't take too long for her to decide maybe it wasn't so bad.

She did really well on the 4 hour ride home. Up next-we are welcomed home in style!!

Right now Penelope is on Jason's lap just babbling away. We've heard mama & dada. Not sure if she means it or not but her voice is just the sweetest!

She was the best little traveler home from Chicago until we got to Tuscola, I was almost ready to throw a fit too. Don't like to ride 4 hours either!! After we saw her today, Mark and I both said what a difference even from yesterday. She is wonderful!!! And the boys are so good with her.

Welcome home! She looked like she was celebrating on the plane!! And to welcome her is her first snow storm in Illinois! I'm so glad you guys made home safe. We will be thinking and praying for all of you as you guys adjust to a family of 6 and pray that Penelope will adapt to her new home and new family. There might be struggles ahead but just remember God will never put a wall in front of you that you can't knock down.
Welcome home Penelope

When looking at her cheesy grin picture this morning, Mitchell asked how old she was. After I told him he said "she's getting big! I betshe can walk!" It makes my heart smile thinking of her asking for mama and knowing it's YOU! ;-) Marissa & family
